The billet conveyor stop is a vertical plate swung in and out of the path of a roller conveyor. The plate (1) is coupled to a pneumatic or hydraulic damper (13). The damper can be arranged so as to be cut in and out as desired and can comprise a double-acting cylinder, whose piston rod (18) is coupled to the plate by a pivoting link. The plate can be fixed to a horizontal shaft (4) in bearings, and on which the pivot-suspended cylinder acts. There can be a compressed air supply (21, 22) to each end of the cylinder.
