Removable coupling for HV power transmission cable - has collar type clamp with pressure bolt applied at minor axis of elliptical cross-section

A h.v. power transmission cable joint can be uncoupled when necessary. It has a single piece flexible clamping unit consisting of an electrically conducting material. The cross-section is elliptical and it is symmetrically mounted around the axis. There is a tapped hole in the centre for a pressure bolt. The clamp (1) is in the form of a collar and the pressure bolt, is longer than the largest diameter. It is applied along the shortest axis of symmetry. When the bolt presses against the internal surface of the opposite wall (7) to the tapped hole (4), it alters the profile of the cross-section. The clamp adopts the circular shape of the two conductor ends of the jointed cables.
