The apparatus has a baffle flap, swivable against spring force and transverse to the intake air flow direction. The flap shaft is connected to potentiometer slider, moving over the variable resistance path (84) which is produced by thick-film technique, or from conductive plastics. The resistance path rests on a ceramic support plate (85) with several adhering conductive tracks (118,119,120,121,131,132). Between these are mounted equalising resistors (122-130,135), parallel to the potentiometer resistance path (84) and also produced by thick-film technique, or from conductive plastics. Preferably a control resistor (135) may be in series with the potentiometer resistance path.
