The device for placing pins at transverse expansion joints etc. has a transverse beam travelling on parallel rails longitudinally flanking the slab of freshly placed concrete. The beam has a series of mechanisms which each places a single magazine fed pin into the body of the slab at regular longitudinal intervals. Vertically reciprocating forks (14) effect the pin (27) placement and magazines constitute two spaced vertical rails with the pin feed control embodying twin triangular, notched (31) discs (30) rotating on a common axle (29). A carriage bearing a supply of pins trails the device, followed by a sliding re-compacting shutter.
