The preliminary pulse generation circuit is for each pulse of a pulse train whose repetition frequency is only approximately constant. The spacing between a preliminary pulse and its main pulse is small w.r.t. the pulse train period and is, as far as possible independent of its fluctuation, for use in a radar display unit for the generation of preliminary pulses preceding the main pulses by about 100 microseconds. A clock pulse generator frequency is high with respect to the main pulse repetition frequency, and its pulses are counted, with the count started by each main pulse. A preliminary pulse is generated when a certain number is reached.
