The system of shaped edge covering strips is for reinforcing building panels and for protecting and joining their edges with a waterproof finish, and it is esp. suitable for use in the erection and assembly of shower cubicles, which have a shaped-section aluminium frame, side and rear panels and front curtain. The shaped-section units used for this, with continuous parts (3) embracing the edges of the plates or panels (P), are of two types (A, B) both with continuous shaped pieces projecting from the panel edges and running parallel to them. These are fitted with ribs and grooves and can be rigidly locked together. There are two separate ribs with inwards facing bulges (6', 7') on unit (A), and grooves on unit (B) to accommodate the bulges. They may have hollow spaces (5, 15) for thread-cutting screws for cross-connection. Panels are protected in store and during transport, and erection is simplified, with less parts involved.
