Tamping width adjustment device for road finisher - using three beams giving even spread of material and equal compaction

Device which allows continuous adjustment of the width covered by the vibrating beams used for tamping road surfaces is fitted to machinery which has a main beam mounted behind, plus two adjustment beams mounted behind the main beam. On each of the two halves of the main beam (5) are rigidly fixed internal and external tubes (8, 9) acting as guides. The adjustment beams (6, 7) have external and internal lateral walls (12 or 13) protruding beyond the width of the main beam (5) in the direction in which the machine works. To each of the external walls (12) of the adjustment beams (6, 7) are linked support bars (14, 15) lined up with the associated guide tubes (8, 9) and guided by internal runners. On each of the internal lateral walls (13) of the adjustment beams (6, 7) are two guide sockets (16) guided by the external guides of the associated guide tubes (8, 9).
