Reading instrument with swan neck stand for transparent maps - allowing easy finding of route in light or dark in lorries and cars

Instrument for reading transparent maps in lorries and cars comprises an internally illuminated flat box mounted on a swan-neck stand, for receiving transparent map sheets on an opaque Plexiglas sheet and beneath a transparent Plexiglas sheet which is locked in the box. Pref. on two sides of the upper edge of the box are winders for winding the map backwards and forwards between the Plexiglas sheets by hand or motorised means with a press button, to adjust the required map area to the illuminated section. Pref. a film projector projects a map which is divided into picture frames on a microfilm or small film from behind and below onto an opaque Plexiglas sheet, and the whole apparatus is screwed onto the dashboard to the right of the driver with a ball joint.
