Self loading skip lorry - with two pivoted servo arms and extending struts for skip

The rear of the skip lorry is fitted with two support arms (2, 3) which are hinged on each other, and with separate hydraulic rams (8, 11) on each. A gantry arm (15) is fitted at right angles on the end of the second arm, and has a hoop (2) in which the coupling end of the skip is located. For normal storage both support arms are flat on the lorry, under the skip, with the gantry arm vertical. The end of the skip is fitted with an extending leg (29) with a roller (30) at the end. When this is extended it allows the skip to be rolled off the lorry in a horizontal setting so as not to spill the load. Empty skips are dropped over the end of the lorry. The system is simple and requires no extra headroom above the lorry.
