Microwave oven with controlled power distribution - uses geometrical or electrical change of feed point to vary oven power distribution

A microwave oven, in which the power is fed to the cooking area through sets of pairs of oppositely located slots, provided with means to control the relative phases of the groups so as to be able to vary the concentration of the field over the oven space. The generator feed into the centre of the distribution waveguide feeding the two sets of slots is used to effect a concentration of power at the centre of the oven, and a feed antenna is used when a minimum is desired at the centre. By shifting the feed-point by geometrical or electrical means the distribution can be varied between these extremes.
