The vibration isolator comprises a metallic spring (1) to accommodate the vibration and an air bellows (2) for damping the vibrations. The bellows walls are made of pliable material whose stiffness is negligible compared to that of the spring, and which has no significant vibrating mass. There is an end cap at each end, fixed to the walls. The spring may be a coiled spring arranged inside or outside the bellows and its ends are held by blocks screwed to the caps. The container has an opening (9) to atmosphere or to another such conainer, to effect the clamping action. Several vibration isolators may be arranged in parallel.
