A gear train has a driving gear (12) meshing with three first intermediate gears (13) arranged around the circumference of the driving gear and each secured to one end of a shaft. At the other end of each shaft is secured a second intermediate gear (13) meshing with a driven gear (11) which is coaxial with the driving gear. The shafts may be supported in bearings (14) which are fixed or which are on a planet carrier. Either one or both of the driving and driven gears are not supported in bearings. This is said to bring about equalisation of torque in the three transmission paths constituted by the intermediate gears.
