Cold cleaning fat soiled solid surfaces - using aq. emulsions contg. ethoxylated alkyl phenols and ethoxylated alcohols or phenols

Compsn. for cold-cleaning solid surfaces soiled with fats or fatty matls., esp. hydrocarbon- or plant fats, contains a mixt. of non-ionic tensides and is free from organic solvents. Compsn. consists of an aq. emulsion of a combination of (1) (i) one or more alkyl phenols, contg. 8-20 (9-12)C in alkyl chain, ethoxylated with, on ave., 3-6 (4-5) mol. ethylene oxide, opt. mixed with (ii) 9-18C aliphatic alcohols ethoxylated with, or ave., 3-6 (5-6) mol. ethylene oxide, and (2) one or more 8-20 (9-15) C aliphatic alcohols or phenols, ethoxylated with, or ave., 7-18 (8-14) mol. ethylene oxide. Ratio components (1):(2) is 7:1-1:1 (5:1-2:1). Compsns. are used for removing oily and resinified fatty deposits on machinery, plant, barrier parts, small repair parts, vehicle parts, esp. engines. They can also be used as domestic-, large kitchen- and cooking utensil cleaners, for floors and for plastic surfaces. Cleaners are neutral to weakly alkaline. Compared to strong alkaline cleansers, they have (a) superior fat-dissolution properties, (b) are handled more safely and do not damage lacquered surfaces and (c) can be used on Al-and nonferrous metals.
