The rapid transport railway has an overhead tubular rail and support structure. On travelling through curves the vehicle assumes an inclined position according to the centrifugal forces generated. The vehicle centre of gravity is arranged below the point of suspension. The tubular rail is enclosed to a great extent by an arm connected to a traction vehicle. This arm accommodates a magnet so that an air gap is formed between the magnet and the rail. The tube is hollow and air flows through this tube. A movable piston in the tube carries magnets which interact with the magnets in the traction vehicle arm without direct contact. The piston has electric motor driven wheels.
