Automatic weighing machine with pre set maximum tare - subtracts weight of packaging to give net weight of contents

The weighing machine has a maximum tare-weight range so that if the weight of packing material is first calculated, the net weight of packaged goods can be directly read from the machine. The machine consists of a weighing platform (10) on which is mounted a number receptacles (11). These hold various bias weights (4) as selected by the machine. The weights are normally held on a carrier plate underneath the main chassis of the machine (14). The plate is raised or lowered by a pneumatic actuator (13). Individual weights are released onto the balance platform by electro-magnetic means. When packing material is placed on the platform, the machine released a bias weight which is equivalent to the difference between the packing weight and the maximum tare-weight set on the machine.
