The vehicle windscreen wiper has a blade pivoting on an arm but without any linkage so as to be parallel to the adjacent edge of the screen when in either of its end positions as the arm reverses. The blade is spring-mounted on the arm, the spring holding the blade at a predetermined angle in relation to the arm. A stop is mounted near one edge of the screen, so that on striking it the blade is brought into a position approximately paralle to this edge. The predetermined angle can be such as to keep the blade parallel to the screen edge at the other end of the arm stroke.
