A monitoring system for three phase power transmission has a rotary field generator (4) with two rotary field inductors (5,6) each with a polyphase winding (5a,6a). An armature (7) magnetically coupled with the inductors (5,6) has at least one winding (7a). A first rotary field inductor (5) winding (5a) is connected to primary terminals (R,S,T) of the transmission system (1), and second inductor (6) winding (6a) to its secondary terminals (U,V.W). The output of the armature winding (7a) is connected to the monitoring device output (8) carrying a signal depending on the transmission system (1) transfer factor.
