High voltage source regulator has an electron tube (Q), a transistor (T1) and a variable resistor (R2) connected in series. The control grid of the tube is connected between the transistor (T1) and the variable resistor (R2). The transistor base (T1) is connected to a regulating amplifier which drives the base by means of a signal. The signal depends on the difference between the voltage on the control grid of the tube and a constant reference voltage. Only the anode current, i.e. the discharge current of the laser tube, is controlled. The grid current of the electron tube has no effect on the regulation.
