Tyre with protruding cable mounted in peripheral groove - providing increased slip resistance at reduced air pressure

The slip resistance of a tyre si increased by forming a peripheral groove in the outer surface of the trad, and laying an endless wire cable in the groove around the periphery of the tyre. The cable protrudes beyond the profile of the tyre on both sides of the tyre. If the air pressure is then reduced to such an extend that only the outer surfaces of te tyre touch the ground, the cable also touches the ground, thus increasing the slip resistance of the tyre e.g. on slippery ice. The material inserted in the peripheral groove of the tyre may be a stell cable, steel wire, wire cable, or spikes made of steel or plastic material.
