A mineral fertiliser spreading device with a spreader driven from the road wheels, having a chain conveyor with follower devices, has a scraper or wiper device (10) inside the chair situated near the chain conveyor drive roller (5) which permits build up of fertiliser in the spreader or distribution channel (9). A section (9c), situated directly in front of the wiper (10) in the upper section (9b) of the feed or distribution channel (9), is covered by a rubber membrane (11) on which rests a weight loaded control lever (13). This lever (13) operates the switch (14) for the drive motor of the chain drive roller (5).
