摘要
The rotary piston engine comprises a casing (1) fitting closely around a circular rotor (2) fixed to a concentric output shaft. In the face away from this shaft, the rotor has a recess (3) into which projects a cam (21), fixed to the casing, against which bear rollers (22, 22a) each supporting one end of oscillating pistons (4, 4a) pivoted axially near the other end (5). These pistons are a close fit in the rotor recess and against the casing face so that the cyclic variation of the space between piston and casing with rotor rotation can be used for pumping or for an IC cycle. The lever configuration maximises energy conversion efficiency. Instead of the cam (21) a cranked output shaft going through the rotor with connecting rods to the pistons can be used. Reversing gearing must then be fitted however, between this shaft and the rotor, and a multi-row arrangement is possible.
