Circuit for bipolar coagulation tweezers - permits preparation of tissues prior to coagulation

Coagulation tweezers have arms which are electrically insulated from each other, and a time-lag relay for switching on a hf. generator to generate the coagulation current. The delay time of the relay is adjustable and the relay switches on the coagulation current only when the electrical resistance between two arms contact the tissue to be coagulated lies within a given range. Due to the time lag in switching on the coagulation current, tissue portions to be coagulated can first be withdrawn from a larger tissue formation or prepared. Also the tweezers can be more readily manufactured and cleaned compared with use of a manual switch on the tweezers. The generator may carry a current indicator.
