The application is to rapid and precise speed control of small low inertia motors and avoids speed overshoot when accelerating the motor. A speed error detecting circuit generates a signal related to the deviation from a particular set speed. An impulse generator provides power pulses to the motor, these pulses being controlled in amplitude by the error signal acting through the intermediate processing circuit. The amplitude of each successive pulse is set by this circuit with regard to the speed error magnitude, thus as the set speed is approached the power impulse is reduced. The control circuit typically uses digital operating methods.
