The automatic micro calcification recognition device for use in X-ray manumography, has a rectangular area in which the light or dark values of the manumograph are scanned and the central point scan value are compared to the average value for the entire area. The central scan value is also compared to the peripheral values. If the difference between there values exceeds or equals a predetermined value the window is converted into a binary field in which all image points darker than the average of the mid field and edge field values are denegrated 0 (1), with the remaining points denegrated 0 (1). If the total of 0-1 and 1-0 transformations relative to the total of 1 (0) points is less than a predetermined level, the coordinates of that field central point are stored.
