Rock probe for high stess outburst zones - uses drilling energy for boring and removing drillings sensed as stress indicating parameter

Probing rock strata for possible zones of higher stress in rock outburst and bump investigations underground is carried out by drilling into the rock to study borehole wall deformation, assisted by a drilling parameter. This obtains information on the stressed condition of the rock (3). The parameter used is the energy required by the drill (1) to bore the hole and remove the drillings from this hole (6). For this purpose the drill is equipped with an instrument capable of measuring energy consumption (5) and of recording (7) this during drilling operations aimed at establishing high stress outburst prone zones of ground.
