Plate spring is prepd. by investment- or lost wax precision casting of alloys contg. 8-72% Ni, 1-20% Cr, 1-50% Co and 1-75% Fe, as main components. Compsn. may also contain 5% Mo, W, ti, Al, Nb and Ta and traces, i.e. 0.5% C, B and Zr. Investment casting is independent of material. Surfaces require no further machining. Bearings can be cast accurately. Top edges can be rounded in casting. Formation of scores and radius deviations on rounding sharp edges is prevented. Addn. of Co increases creep strength Al and Ti improve hardening and creep strength. Alloys have high working life and become notch-resistant on heating.
