Refractory compsns. for use, e.g. in steel making, coke manufacture and foundries, comprise the dust by-produced in silicon and ferrosilicon prodn. This is mixed with binders and other fillers, e.g. cement, fireclay, gypsum, alumina and silicates, and a reticulating and/or flocculating agent. The products have good high temp. properties and abrasive resistance and are less costly than pure cement/fireclay compsns.
