Flue gas purifier mounted on chimney - comprises superimposed units giving easy access and filter changing

Appts. comprises (successively in the direction of flow) a flue gas brake for pptg. solid particles, a pre-chamber with flap valve-controlled flue gas outlet in the walls, an absorbing filter for noxious substances and an exhauster. The entire chimney-mounted installation consists of component units one upon the other. The lowest unit is a pre-chamber with removable lateral walls, one pair of these walls (pref. opposite each other) having openings closed by flap valves. The central unit si a filter box comprising one push-in filter unit(s) which can be changed through the side wall. The top unit is a hood contg. the exhauster and an actuating unit for operating the flap valves. This actuating unit pref. is a low voltage generator which, when the exhauster is in operation, keeps the flaps shut but, if the exhauster fails, opens them to permit escape of the flue gases. Each of the three units is pref. a frame structure clad with panels and fitted with flanges for connecting to the other units. By arranging the openings in the lowest unit opposite to each other, there is no risk in a high wind of flue gases being driven back down the chimney, should the flap valves be opened. The filters are easily removed. Easy access to the chimney is available.
