Vehicle swing door pneumatic double drive - has double acting pneumatic cylinder with endless flexible power transmission connected to piston rods

Operation of two- or more leaves of a vehicle swing door assembly is achieved by a single pneumatic operator. The system consists of double acting pneumatic cylinder (3) with piston rods (4) fitted at each end of cylinder. The piston rods are attached to the respective ends of rope drive (6) running over swivelling pulleys (1) and (2). In order to obtain a counter motion on the two loops the ropes are crossed at (7) next to pulley (1) and guide over pulley (5). The rope drive also has a tensioning mechanism (16). To overcome the problem of possible friction between the two crossing rope lines over the relevant part a length of double chain running over pulley (1) with double toothing is proposed. If rope is used entirely, a double-grooved pulley can be used, the rope crosses over on the pulley and the oncoming rope line is in a different plane than the offcoming line.
