3-Thiomethyl-2(2-(dialkylamino)ethyl)indoles - useful as CNS depressants and antiaggresive agents

Cpds. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts (where R1, R2 and R3 are H or 1-7C alkyl; R4 is 1-7C alkyl, 6-10C aryl, aralkyl, or a 5-6 membered heterocyclic ring having 1 or 2 N, O or S; and R5 is H, 1-7C alkyl, alkoxy or OH), are useful as CNS depressants, e.g. when administered intraperitonially to rodents e.g. mice at a dose of 10-100 mg./kg., sedation is produced. (I) are also useful as mild sedatives or anti-aggression agents, and can be formulated with tablets or injections.
