A gas bottle for use with a fire extinguisher has an externally threaded neck (1) which is also internally threaded for a plug (5) which traps a bursting disc (3) against a sealing ring (4) which seats on a smaller diameter shoulder (2) at the bottom of the recess. At least one overflow channel (7) is incorporated at the bottom fo the internally threaded part, communicating with a channel around and slightly below the level of the small diameter shoulder. In another design, the bursting ring is incorporated in the base of the threaded plug. The surface of the shoulder has a groove across it.
