The machine strips and re-lays asphalt road surfaces. A pref. self-propelled wheeled chassis (1,2,3) holds a stripper (6) with one or more paring blades (7), seated on one or more chassis-mounted retainer devices adjustable for height, surfacing device, and a cleaning and heating device. Each paring blade retainer device (8) is fitted with support wheels (11) with adjustable height. Each wheel may have its own height-adjusting mechanism (12,13), operable while stripping is in progress this may be in the form of a threaded spindle, or a spur rack device. The support wheels may be of steel, or solid rubber. Vibrations, leading to uneven areas in the stripped road surface and resurfacing difficulties, are prevented.
