The toy building blocks are in the form of hollow cubes or rectangular prisms with one pair of opposite faces left open. The blocks are placed one upon another with a relatively thin slab between the blocks. This intermediate slab is rectangular in shape and has raised square areas (e) which fit inside the adjacent block and so form a retaining spigot. The slab edge (f) is coloured to look like mortar so that the building has a natural appearance. The building blocks include arch shaped blocks and circular columns with correspondingly shaped intermediate slabs to hold the members together.
