Worm screw extruder has an axial portion of its inner cylinder wall provided with peripherally spaced, axially extending, sharp-edged grooves which co-operate with oppositely directed vanes having a pitch of from 30 to 55 degrees (45 degrees). Used for processing thermoplastics materials or rubber, the homogeneous effect of extruder is improved.
