Flap for gastight closing of opening - is hollow rectangular beam with faceplate and flexible seal strips

The sealing flap consists of a frame (1) in the shape of and overlapping the edges of the opening to be closed. The frame is built up from a hollow steel beam (2) of rectangular section which is welded together at the corners of the opening. A cover plate (3) is welded against the face of the frame furthest from the opening. Sealing strips (5,6) are mounted on the underside of the frame. The sealing strips fit round the edges of the opening to be closed. A handle or channel to facilitate lifting or pressing against the opening is welded to the cover plate on the frame. The operating mechanism if provided, is connected to this handle, which is mounted on the plate (3).
