Towed sleeve target has radar-reflecting threads - spaced to suit radar wavelength in easily woven textile cloth

A towed sleeve target is equipped with radar-reflecting constituents and comprises a front towing ring and a tube with long metal components in its wall. These metal components are spaced at distances apart less than or equal to one quarter of the wavelength of the radar frequency employed. The cloth may be of textile with metal filaments twisted with some of the textile threads. Alternatively, metal filaments are wrapped helically around textile threads. The metal filaments may be in either the warp or the weft direction. Specifically the textile filaments are of acrylonitrile or other synthetic fibres and all the filaments are of the same type, including those around which the metal filaments are twisted. The metal filaments are pref. of rectangular cross-section and may be of aluminium, with a polyester coating. By considerably reducing the number of metal filaments, the manufacture of the towed sleeve is considerably simplified.
