Cooled tuyere has a pressure-tight jacket made of material with good thermal conductivity, and a capillary structure provided on the inside surfaces of the hollow jacket. An annular evapn. chamber if formed by the capillary structure, the latter being open to the chamber; and a closed coolant circuit is formed in which coolant is fed via channels through the capillary structure, the evapn. chamber, a condenser and a return pipe; the circuit may also contain an intermediate tank and or a pump. Alternatively, the evapn. chamber may be formed by holes in the capillary structure, the holes being parallel with the tuyere axis. The lower part of the capillary structure is pref. flooded by condensate.
