The background scene is projected upwards to be reflected by a half-reflecting mirror (34) on to a reflective screen and back along the optical axis of the camera (12). The camera is adjustably mounted on a bracket (14) which can slide in guides (32) parallel to the half-reflecting mirror (34). The bracket also serves to hold the half-reflecting mirror on the projector. An additional unit (60) may be provided to supplement or replace the reflective screen that faces the camera. It accepts a projected image which has passed upwards through the half-reflecting mirror (34) and reflects it (68) back to that mirror and so towards the camera. This unit may contain a reducing lens (64).
