The bulk drying and separating apparatus for milled material, injects steam (8) into the bottom of the separating tank, the fine material being conveyed upwards into a filter, (12). The output is deposited onto a conveyor (14) below, and the hot air separated in the filter travels out of the tap into a heat exchanger (15), which heats up air for discharge through a line (20) into the separating tank, for addition to the mixture inside. The residual moisture in the finished product can be kept at a given level by keeping constant this supply of preheated air, or by keeping constant the mixture. The temperature of the mixture inside the separating tank can be kept constant by controlling the temperature of this preheated air supply.
