The water heating assembly for a coffee making machine has a cast base (1) in which is embedded a ring shaped heating element (11) in close contact with a similarly ring shaped metallic water tube (14). This tube is oval shaped or flattened in cross section, and retained by a cover (21). This tube has a high coefficient of thermal expansion and is cropped inside a channel (13) in the cast base (1). Both the base and the cover incorporate ribs (19) suitably curved to locate and retain the water tube. The space (23) inside the channel is filled with a flowing or pasty medium having a high heat transformation point and heat resistance, such as oil a trifluorchlorethylene based substance.
