The device removes heat from assemblies open at the top and bottom and consisting of printed circuit boards, or of freely wired units in the form of plug-in inserts with heat generating components. The inserts are mounted in racks with air channels between inserts supplied with cooling air by central fans. Air channels consist of hollow rectangular beams mounted inside the rack system (1). They are in the form of closed channels (4) with a number of holes (7) and vertical beams (5). Horizontal beams (6) are connected to the holes (7), and are provided with further holes (8) pointing towards the assemblies (2).
