Linear motor railway points system - has branch line with auxiliary rails and drive coils but no lifting coils

A magnetic suspension railway system with vehicles powered by a linear motor employs auxiliary rails (9) and wheels (10) for start up etc, and has a flat guide plate (3) outside each rail, engaged by swinging hooked members (6) when required. Between the rails are drive coils (4) and guide coils (5). Above the latter on the vehicle (2) are the conductor windings (8), and each side above the guide plates (3) are short circuit windings. At a points system for the track, the branch line has only drive coils and suitable rails, and at the junction point where the curve of these rails begins, are the points themselves. The diverted vehicle has the hooked members swung into position, its determined direction being already assisted by the side guide coils.
