Arrangement for carrying and transporting material to be heated from the entry and exit ends of a furnace. This arrangement is used preferably fora walking beam furnace with supporting tubes. The latter are arranged on vertical struts and the tubes and supports carry a liquid coolant. The transporter is reliably cooled. The cooling pipes (4) are arranged in the individual supporting struts (2) of the transporting system so that gaps (7, 8) are formed between their lower ends (5) and the bottom (6) and walls of the strut (2). The tube bends (11) at the upper ends (9) are turned to face by their open ends (12), the flow of the coolant into the horizontal support tube (1).
