The mine roof support has two floor supports and roof supports interconnected by telescopic hydraulic rams. An advancing system is mounted on the floor supports behind a scraper conveyor, with the front part of the roof supports overhanging the conveyor. A set of swinging arms are between a lower pillar and a telescopic ram controlling the position of the roof supports. These arms describe an elliptical path to ensure the correct alignment of the roof supports as they are moved forwards or backwards, or angled. This control ram is divided into compartments interconnected with the hydraulic circuit so that the horizontal force component on the roof supports is always greater than on the floor supports during advance.
