The multiple lift control system can be used with widely differing numbers of lifts. The signal wires from the group control unit to the Lifts and those from the lifts to the control unit are common to all lifts in the group. The signals generated by the lift controls are fed to signal and evaluation circuits in the control unit. These circuits reserve calls dependent on the lift traffic level, and can be switched over, so that when a predetermined total of reserved calls for one lift is exceeded, overtaking signals are generated for following ones.
