A new galenical formulation consists of tablets contg. granules. These granules pref. consist mainly of pectin or a mixt. of pectin and high-purity clay. The granules may be bonded together by conventional fillers in which vitamins and trace elements are incorporated. Individual granules can be coated with a filler, or a number of granules can be compressed with binder to form a tablet in which the granules retain their structural integrity. When taken orally, the binder is rapidly dispersed while the individual granules retain their form. Fillers are conventional e.g. sugar, CaCo3 etc. and make up 1-80 wt. % of the formulation. The compsns. are made by mixing the granules with a binder (having simultaneously wetting and mildly adhesive props.) then compressing, e.g. in a tablet press, at 6-15, pref. 8-12 tonnes, according to the strength of the granules. Used for usual dietic and pharmaceutical purposes and are rapidly dispersed.
