The epoxide resin is the reaction product of an epoxide resin of the bisphenol A glycidylether type with unsatd. fatty acids having an I2 value of =90 (the mol. ratio of fatty acid and bisphenol A units being 0.5-1.7), with 0-20% free fatty acids and 0-60% fatty acid esters of lower alkyl alcohols or glycols. This reaction prod. can be diluted with water (ratio of water: reaction prod. being 1:1-1000:1) or with an organic solvent. The stabiliser opt. contains an emulsifier imparting reasonable stability on storage of the stabiliser in concd. form and allows dilution of the stabiliser with water. Used in the construction of roads and airport runways; stabilising sand dunes and other loose particulate materials; and to improve the quality of forests and agricultural land. The layers so produced are long lasting.
