A sorting device for use with hops, has at least one compressed air input feed device (4) mounted under at least one of the input conveyors (6). The jet of air issuing from the compressed air feed (4) is directed into and through the flow of hops and leaves. An output or offtake conveyor device (11) below the input conveyor belt system (6) removes the separated hops (10). The compressed air input device (4) is a tube with a nozzle or jet piece (5) with one or more slit apertures. An alternative design has a stack of sorting conveyors arranged in a stepped cascade formation with intermediate air jets.
