A tachometer (4) turns a transparent plate (5) instead of the usual indicator needle. The tachometer is fixed to a housing (1) held by reinforcements (3) to the vehicle. A shaft (7) able to rotate in respect of the housing carries two bearers (8, 9). The first bearer carries a light source (10) and the second bearer carries a photoelectric cell. The receiver and transmitter are arranged on opposite sides of the transparent plate. The photoelectric cell receives that part of light which is not absorbed by the transparent plate. The shaft (7) is mechanically connected by a pull wire (13) to the accelerator control. The transparent plate takes up a position dependent upon engine revolution speed and the light transmitter and receiver take up a position dependent upon accelerator control position. By imparting a predetermined transparency degree upon the plate, a signal can be obtained to give a regulated fuel air mixture.
