Direct supply of dry particulate materials from a large scale storage silo selectively to several independent processing machines via tubes leading to pressure tight hoppers above each machine. The hoppers are linked by a secondary evacuated manifold with individually valved branches. The base of each hopper has a discharge outlet with a pressure tight gate which is self closing, but will open under material weight if the hopper is loaded and vented. The filling cycle may be automated, and hoppers should incorporate a filter to protect the vacuum system. Esp. for distributing plastic granules or beads to injection moulding machines, extruders, etc. Individual machines should be able to feed from a small local bin instead of the main silo to accommodate short run or purge materials. Obviates inter. handling and contamination between bulk storage and conversion.
